EX-VOGUE EDITOR KIRSTIE CLEMENTS TO APPEAR ON AMERICAN TALKSHOW ‘THE VIEW’

In a culmination of the onslaught of international media attention that former Vogue Australia editor Kirstie Clements has received in recent weeks, she will be appearing on one of the world’s highest rating TV talkshows, The View, to air locally in Australia tomorrow, Friday 3 May, at 1pm on Channel 9.

The wildly popular US-based program, co-hosted by Whoopi Goldberg, Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, Sherri Sheperd and Elisabeth Hasselbeck, is in its sixteenth season, and guests have included everyone from Robert DeNiro to President Barack Obama.

Kirstie Clements says, ‘I am so thrilled to be invited to appear on The View. Barbara Walters is a personal idol of mine, and the show is such an important touch point for women all over the world.’
It all started when the UK’s Daily Mail picked up on details that Clements revealed in her new book The Vogue Factor about the drastic measures that models take to remain ‘catwalk thin’–including eating tissues to fill empty stomachs. In recent weeks Kirstie has appeared on some of America’s highest rating TV programs including Good Morning America, Entertainment Tonight, NBC’s Today and CNN, and the requests keep flowing in from the US, UK and Europe.

In May 2012 Kirstie Clements was unceremoniously sacked after thirteen years in the editor’s chair at Vogue Australia. In her book The Vogue Factor she tells the story behind the headlines, and takes us behind the scenes of a fast-changing industry.

From her humble beginnings growing up in the Sutherland Shire in Sydney to her brilliant career as a passionate and fierce custodian of the world’s most famous luxury magazine brand, Clements warmly invites us into her Vogue world, a universe that brims with dazzling celebrities, fabulous lunches, exotic locales and of course, outrageous fashion.

Amidst the exhilaration and chaos of modern magazine publishing and the frenzied demands of her job, Clements is always steadfast in her dedication to quality. Above all, she is always Vogue.

Kirstie Clements began working at Vogue in 1985, rising to editor in 1999, a position she held until 2012. She co-authored In Vogue, 50 Years of Australian Style with Lee Tulloch. She was a columnist with Sunday Telegraph from 2010-2012 and a judge on Australia’s Next Top Model. She is married with 17-year-old twin sons. The Vogue Factor was published in March 2013.
