Through our connection to Garage Entertainment, HMMG started working with Richie Vas 6 months ago. It signaled an expansion into adventure sport and the incredible content and brand activations attached to the genre.
Six months on and UFC193 down, we are thrilled to announce that Richie ‘Vas’ Vaculik will release his autobiography with Allen & Unwin in September 2016, co-written with highly regarded surf journalist and author Sean Doherty (MP: The Life of Michael Peterson, My Brother’s Keeper, The Pilgrimage).
His evolution from going nowhere fast to a career in the UFC, charging big waves with best mate Mark Mathews and on air weekly with Fox Sports forms the basis for a book that speaks to a family audience. He gives back at a community level through his role with the PCYC and is passionate about bringing out the best in young people, perhaps who have lost their way. He regularly speaks to youth groups, schools and sporting teams about his story and the messages behind Fighting Fear, the feature doco about his friendship with big wave superstar Mark Mathews. Fighting Fear is a selected text within the High School English syllabus from the Board of Studies in NSW.
Together with Mark Mathews and musician Kid Mac, Richie has appeared in two series to The Crew produced by Garage Entertainment. Season 3 will air on GO! from 2:30pm Saturday 12 December in two back-to-back episodes, for seven weeks. The third season of the show sees Richie, Mark and Kid Mac mentoring three young talents from each of their chosen disciplines.
The Crew season 3 also presented an opportunity for Peter Morrissey to be an integrated sponsor in the show, dressing and styling the next generation in his brand. Peter has been a friend and mentor to Richie, Mark and Kid Mac for many years and appeared previously in the show.
