Alexa Towersey

Speaker, Television Presenter

High Performance Coach, Mental Health Advocate & Motivational Speaker.

Dubbed the “Brené Brown of Down Under” by those who have heard her story, Alexa Towersey is a powerful voice and positive role model in the health and fitness industry.

Her latest project is her debut podcast “How Fitness Saved My Life’” alongside co-host Jenna Louise and in partnership with Listnr.

Born into a military family, Alexa’s journey started on a ‘mission for muscles’ after she was bullied at school for being too skinny. Her nickname was Alexa Anorexia. The gym – and in particular, the weights room – became her sanctuary and was the first place she developed strength, both physically and mentally.

Her personal mantra is, “When I feel physically strong, I think strong thoughts”.

Her training credentials include a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Biology and Psychology, postgraduate papers in Sports Management and Kinesiology, and full certification with the legendary Gym Jones (responsible for the physiques in 300 and Superman). Her high-profile clientele is diverse – from touring with Julia Michaels (alongside Keith Urban on his Australia Tour); to being contracted by Warner Bros to prepare Josh Lawson for his role as Kano in Mortal Kombat; through to being responsible for keeping the stunt crew of “Thor: Love & Thunder” in condition and uninjured whilst in Sydney.

A firm favourite with the media as a ‘go-to’ fitness authority, Alexa has appeared on CNN, Bloomberg and Channel 9s Weekend Today as their fitness expert and hosted both Maxim Fitness TV on 7 Mate and a series of Asia’s Next Top Model. She is a 2 x Cover Model and is currently the “gains guru” for Maxim Magazine with a monthly workout column, and the head trainer for Strong Fitness Magazine Australia with a bimonthly mental health focused column, “Living Strong with Lex”.

To top it all off, Alexa uses her knowledge and lived experience to give back as a passionate speaker for mental health opening for US-based Suicide Prevention Crusader Kevin Hines, presenting keynotes at Brown Foreman, Live Nation, Google, the Gold Industry Group, Optus Fitness and Sport and the Citigroup Women of Power Series.  She is an ambassador for the mental health charity Livin.org.

In August 2022, Alexa competed in the Mongol Derby, a 1,000km race across the Mongolian Desert on semi wild horses, with the aim of raising $100k for charity.
