From the age of 7 Milly Parker has been surrounded by people with disabilities. Both of her parents' work involves people with disabilities and psychiatric conditions and Milly was always encouraged to volunteer and did so on and off throughout her youth.
Ironically, at the age of 21, Milly was involved in a car accident that changed her life forever. Diagnosed with an acquired disability in the form of a Brain Injury, she spent the next year in rehabilitation. It took Milly nearly seven years before she was able to come to terms with her brain injury and its effect on her life.
With the support of her parents and partner she created a home based business HAPPY YAPPERS which sells handmade dog treats. Milly is a strong, creative and business savvy woman who's products are sold around Australia and internationally including to Harrod's in London.
Milly's experience and determination have brought her respect and recognition particularly in Victoria where she has won numerous awards and participated in a number of initiatives. Her story is inspiring and her presentation engaging.
"Milly was our lunch time speaker at Lady Somers Camp on Wednesday 20 January 2010. Milly's speech was rated the best speech by the groupers (participants) during the camp. Milly is the only speaker during the camp (there were 9 in total) who received a standing ovation after her speech. Milly was inspiring, funny, honest and perhaps one of the most positive people I have ever heard speak and she had an enormous impact on 300 people."
